Oman:

There are so many great places in Oman, but just to give you an idea I have mentioned the most famous places, listed for you as follows:

Khutwa

Khutwa which has it all, an oasis, a huge canyon, mountains and a lovely village, where the local citizens are self supporting.
The old village of Khutwa is hidden behind the mountains and is a true paradise, the people are very friendly and do not mind tourists as long as they respect the inhabitant’s privacy. There is so much to see, you can spend quit some hours in and around the village and canyon.

Note: Always carry your passport with you and at some border checkpoints a visa might be required, even there were you only pass an Oman enclave. For Khutwa a visa is not YET required.

Ray - Hatta

The Ray- Hatta trip leads you through the most impressive mountains and natural pools.
It is not easy to explain it's beauty, you just need to see it yourself.

Note: Visa is not YET required.

Musandam exclave

If you take a look at the map as per above you can see that how the two countries have been devided. The U.A.E.

Musandam Peninsula

People call it the fjords of Oman. The Musandam fjords are absolutely breathtaking. You can book a Dhow trip for a half day or full day and it will take you into the fjords. During the dhow trip you will see small mountain villages and Cormorants in big numbers. They often stop along Telegraphic Island where you can snorkel and the main attractions are the dolphins.

Than you have Khasab, the main city of Musandam Peninsula, with an old Fort and a big harbour. The mountains of Khasab are wonderful, there is one 'main' road through this mountain area and now and than you go off road and you will be surprised by the hidden beauty in the mountains. If it would be allowed to cross the Oman - UAE checkpoint you could drive all the way through the primitive and rough mountains to Dibba. But you can go up in the mountains and just simply return as soon as you reached the highest top, which is 2000mtrs. high. It is very different, but you must do it with a 4WD car in the lower gear...

Note: Visa is required!

Hanging Gardens and Fossil Valley

Crossing the border at Al Ain you will enter Buraimi, Oman. Heading for the mountain area there is a lot to explore. Also here you can spend a full day driving off road and further into the mountains.

Note: Crossing the border at Al Ain visa is nowadays required.

The hanging gardens, the shapes of the rocks are an
unbelievable beauty and Fossil Valley. It rightly deserves its
name and still many fossils can be found in the valley;
the Madbah mineral pools.
